Manchmal begegnet man im multikulturellen London noch einem Engländer. Hört man in der U-Bahn vom Protokoll abweichende Durchsagen wie diese hier im folgenden, weiss man, daß man von einem Einheimischen gefahren wird. Die besten Ansagen, die ich bisher gehört habe, wollte ich schon lange mal präsentieren:

“Our next stop is Notting Hill Gate. Please mind the gap when leaving the train. If you are not leaving the train, there is no need to mind the gap. Everything’s allright, you are safe.”

“Please allow the doors to close. Try not to confuse this with “Please hold the doors open.”. The two are distinct and separate instructions.”

“We are sorry for the delay. This is because we are currently waiting for a new driver. Not that there was anything wrong with the old one, but we are waiting for a new one.”
